Lander Womentum Listserv Welcome and Guidelines
Welcome to the Womentum Alumni Listserv! We are eager to start the flow of community information among our nine cohorts—and counting!
The listserv is intended for the positive exchange of information among Lander Womentum alumni. To ensure the best possible experience for all, we have established some basic guidelines. These guidelines are also posted on Lander Womentum’s website under Listserv.
By using Lander Womentum’s Listserv, you agree that you have read and will follow the guidelines.
Listserv Purpose
The listserv exists to foster connection and support among alumni by:
Sharing community events, job listings, resources, and local and regional issue updates
Facilitating civic engagement and community involvement
Creating opportunities for networking and mutual support
Distributing news, press releases, and statements from professional organizations relevant to the larger alumni group
Listserv Guidelines
Include community announcements. Post community events, job listings, resources, local and regional issue updates, etc. Share news, press releases, and statements of professional organizations if they are relevant to the larger alumni group.
Civic engagement posts are welcome. However, political discussions are not appropriate. Out of respect for differing beliefs and experiences, please keep such posts limited to the meeting’s purpose, date, and location.
Confidentiality. Treat information sent as confidential, unless it’s already in the public domain or could be (i.e., a job posting or event announcement). Use common sense and avoid hearsay or gossip.
Subject line. Include a clear subject line.
Signature. Include a signature tag on all messages with your name and email or phone number.
Questions, feedback, concerns. Send all administrative questions and concerns to connect@landerwomentum.org.
Listserv Etiquette
Use professional, respectful language in posts. Defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal text or language is prohibited.
Assume good intentions. The Listserv is meant to stimulate exchange of useful information and enriching conversation, not to create contention.
Reply judiciously. Send a Reply All message to the entire list when it contains information that can benefit everyone. Use the singular Reply button, and not Reply All, if you want to only reply to the sender. For example, send personal messages, like "thanks" or "me too," directly to the individual sender, in order to keep the Listserv uncluttered.
Important: When using an Auto Reply message for Out of Office, please use the Create a Rule function that limits autoreply messages to the whole list.
Listserv Legal Information
Copyright compliance. Post copyrighted material only with the owner's permission.
Public record awareness. Be aware that messages posted on Lander Womentum’s Listserv, even if treated by our community as “confidential,” may be considered “public documents” by law or subject to legal discovery.
Lander Womentum reserves the right to suspend or terminate the participation of anyone who violates these Listserv guidelines and rules.
To help manage your participation on the listserv and keep your inbox organized, below are a few system details and options.
Manage Your Email Frequency
Google Groups offers a few ways to receive updates. You can change these at any time by visiting your Membership Settings:
Each Email: Receive every message as it is posted.
Digest: Receive one daily email containing up to 25 full messages.
Abridged: Receive one daily summary of up to 150 messages.
No Email: Stay in the group but only read messages by visiting groups.google.com. Click My groups in the left-hand sidebar, then click womentum-alumni. This lets you view listserv traffic without using your email inbox. I updated the guideline document, which includes the hyperlink to groups.google.com.
Create Your Own Weekly Digest
If you prefer to see all group emails only once a week, follow these steps to move them to a specific folder you can access at any time.
Open Gmail on a computer and click the Show search options icon (the sliders) in the search bar.
In the From field, type: alumni@landerwomentum.org
Click Create filter.
Check Skip the Inbox (Archive it) and Apply the label.
Click New label..., name it Alumni Group, and click Create.
The Result: Your emails will wait for you in that folder. You can click it once a week to catch up on everything at once!
